In the mid-1940s, Charles and Ray Eames began designing toys and furniture for children, including molded plywood animals, colorful building blocks and whimsical masks. “We have to take pleasure seriously,” said Charles Eames, and the Hang-It-All is an example of this mantra. With a sense of playful originality that Charles and Ray Eames brought to all their works, the Hang-It-All first appeared in 1953 as a place made for a child's belongings. But for all its whimsy, the Hang-It-All is a useful piece of art used by everyone.
